Father's Office

Sang Yoon's Office Burger® really is "that good."  Despite Chef Yoon's ketchup ban at his Father's Office locations (which has, admittedly, tempted this gal to sneak a few packets of the forbidden condiment in just to spite him!  However, the garlic parsley and blue cheese aiolis that accompany the restaurant's standard and sweet potato fries respectively more than make up for the seemingly controversial burger-without-ketchup stance.), the dry-aged beef burger is paired with caramelized onions, salty bacon, creamy gruyère and blue cheese, and peppery arugula, creating an elevated take on an American standard.  That it's touted as one of the best burgers in the country is really quite fitting.  If you're not a burger fan, Father's Office's two gastropub locations -- the former-dive bar flagship on Montana in Santa Monica and the larger "2.0" location in Culver City's Helms Bakery District -- also offer an array of subtly beautiful food prepared with equally impeccable ingredients.  In addition to an enormous variety of craft beers and cocktails (the latter of which are only served at the 2.0 location, where the Corpse Reviver #2 with Junipero Gin, Lillet Blanc, Combier Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, and Absinthe is hard to pass up!), lighter fare like the smoked eel or stuffed piquillo peppers make it easy to snag a seat, grab a drink, and leisurely enjoy dish after dish of Yoon's take on gourmet, small plate bar snacks.
