Fat Sal's Deli
For fans of deli-style sandwiches, life will not be complete until you've tasted a "Fat Sandwich" from Fat Sal's Deli. The collective culinary brainchild of three former New Yorkers (one of whom is Jerry Ferrara, forever immortalized as Turtle from HBO's Entourage), these Fat Sandwiches take a glorious everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach: cheeseburgers, hotdogs, mozzarella sticks, fries, and chicken fingers (all plural, mind you) make regular appearances on these gargantuan sandwiches, all of which are served on extra wide bread to accommodate the ingredient overload. Apparently soccer star and man candy David Beckham has been known to make late-night visits to enjoy the Fat Joey, a super-sized version of a classic pastrami sandwich (if you find yourself craving a 3:00 AM sandwich, you just might spot him!), but if you can't quite muster the courage to take down a Fat Sandwich, the restaurant's standard-sized signature sandwiches and heros are also delicious, and lighter alternatives like wraps and salads present at least the option of avoiding completely pigging out. But in the spirit of "in for a penny, in for a pound," it's hard to say no to a spoon-in Fat Shake or the restaurant's famous Pastrami Ruben rolls - a brilliant hybrid of the Ruben sandwich and noble egg roll. For big food with even bigger flavor, Fat Sal's definitely fits the bill!
