Two years ago, I signed up for OkCupid just for giggles. I wasn’t looking for my soul mate, I simply thought it would be a good way for me to jump back into dating after having taken some personal time for myself, and that – bare minimum – it would certainly be entertaining. Much to my surprise, after just a few short weeks on the site and a handful of bad dates, the love of my life did, in fact, stumble across my profile, and after several weeks of messaging, we met at Jones Hollywood two years ago tomorrow (we celebrated an early anniversary last weekend due to a work conflict). With its intimate, red leather booths, romantically dark lighting, and old Hollywood sensibility, we enjoy returning to this locale each year to mark the night we met. The restaurant’s Italian menu has a large range that makes sharing easy – we typically opt for a salad, a pizza, and a pasta dish (usually the orecchiette or spaghettini pomodoro – both Jones staples, of course), and savor a bottle of wine while reminiscing about the lovely years we’ve already spent together, and the beautiful future we look forward to sharing.
